Motorola administrators can use a MAC and/or IP address or a user name to discover a client in the RFMS.

Motorola is also able to discover handheld devices without use of any name or address. The administrator asks the

user to power-cycle the handheld and the RFMS is able to discover the device. Motorola embeds a client

supplicant on the AP. The supplicant periodically connects to other APs and measures performance and

transactions.

ADSP includes historical troubleshooting tools that allow administrators to analyze device specific trends over

time. ADSP logs hundreds of statistics per device, per minute for all wireless devices in the monitored airspace

and can store several months of forensic data. The system can re-create a timeline and sequence of events that

identifies specific instances when a performance problem occurred. Historical-channel analysis can determine

spare-channel capacity and help optimize WLAN frequency planning. Historical-location tracking can determine

the physical location of a device over time.
